Taiwanese Bubble Tea (in Hong Kong)

In the US, we always see bubble tea in Chinatowns in their respective specialty shops. Did you know it’s a drink that’s originally from Taiwan?  I was recently on the hunt for bubble tea here in Hong Kong and during my search, I came across ShareTea, from Taiwan. So, I assume since the drink originated there, it can’t get much more authentic, right? Seeing that Taiwan is also rather well known for its regular tea, it only makes sense that bubble tea would be good too! For one, I’m no tea expert nor am I a bubble tea connoisseur, but the original milk tea with bubbles (tapioca) from ShareTea was delicious. Not too milky and what I felt was the right amount of sugar. Some may think the sweetness is a bit overwhelming, as the guy behind me ordered the same with 70% sugar. My non-altered, original Bubble Milk Tea was quite refreshing for a warm spring night.

And of course if you’re not satisfied with ShareTea at the Tsim Sha Tsui location, there’s also another street-vending bubble tea place, called Gong Cha, RIGHT next to it, literally with an electronics store separating the two shops. The choices are overwhelming, from fruit juice flavors to aloe jelly. So, I dare you to be the connoisseur and find the perfect bubble tea!
