Today is the Mid-Autumn festival. It is a time for bringing together friends and family in the Chinese tradition. So today, I’m am super pleased to announce an addition to the Veggiewala family, coming to you from Beijing: Tiffany Wan. Tiffany and I have known each other for only a brief time, but in that time she’s made a great impression on me. She’s articulate, open-minded, a great photographer, well traveled and probably one of the most well-mannered people I’ve come across. Though she comes from an industrial design background, one of her major passions in life is food. As a Chinese-American, Tiffany is currently in Beijing reconnecting with her roots and part of this includes exploring the food scene. And though she is not a vegetarian herself, she is more than willing to seek out vegetarian delights in a country that can sometimes be less than accommodating toward vegetarians. So from time to time, look out for Tiffany’s insights on eating vegetarian in Beijing. Her first contribution falls under the category of “round foods” or bing. While the traditional food for the festival is mooncake or “yue bing,” Tiffany will explore a popular street food called “JianBing.” I hope you enjoy it!
And if you are travelling to China and need some tips, feel free to reach out to Veggiewala! And be sure to check out Tiffany’s website at www.tiffanywan.com. Have a great holiday!
