For those of you who might be traveling to Brazil this winter or in the future, I thought I’d post a language guide to help you along in your quest for vegetarian fare in a meat-loving country. Here are some useful phrases:
I am a vegetarian
Sou vegetariano.(man) Sou vegetariana.(woman)
I do not eat meat
Eu não como carne.
Is there any vegetarian option on the menu?
Existe alguma opção vegetariana no cardápio?
I do not eat fish
Eu não como peixe
Additionally, here are some other words you should probably be on the lookout for when perusing menus:
Seafood – frutos do mar
Shrimp – camarão
Chicken – galinha, frango
Beef – carne de boi
Pork – carne de porco
Broth – caldo, sopa
